With the Nation’s birthday right in the middle of the week, there is plenty of music happening in the area.  Here is a chance to sample some local Monadnock musicians during your holiday festivities.

Decatur Creek

Decatur Creek is one of 11 musical acts performing this weekend

This unlikely venue hosts musical events throughout the warmer months, including a day-long line-up of local musicians on two stages, a barbeque, and craft fair. Family friendly, free admission. This  years acts include Lonn Livengood and the Best Revenge, Decatur Creek, Dan and Faith, Moxley Union and more.

JUSTIN COHN  Pasta Loft

Sunday July 1  3:00 – 6:00

Justin is a singer-songwriter from the eastern part of the region who performs at many restaurants in the area.  On Sunday, sit out on the deck at Pasta Loft in Milford and enjoy his folk-rock stylings.

WESTMORELAND TOWN BAND  Frost Free Library

July 3  7:00 – 8:00

What’s more American than a New England town band performing marches, show tunes, pop and dixieland jazz?  This concert is part of the Elizabeth Richards Summer Concert Series on the lawn of the library in Marlborough. If it rains, the concert will be held at the Marlborough School.

RICE – AN AMERICAN BAND  Hawks and Reed Performing Arts

July 5  8:30

If you are in the mood to move, head south just over the border to Greenfield, MA. Rice performs originals as well as  covers of popular  tunes.  With three vocalists and some of the finest musicians in the western Mass area, expect the dance floor to get crowded. Doors open at 8:00, tickets $7 day of show; $5 in advance.

FIRST FRIDAY ART HOP  Downtown Keene

July 6  5:00 – 9:00

Team Keene was formed this year to promote and bring new events that contribute to the vibrancy of the city.  On Friday, the first First Friday Hop happens – with food, several gallery shows, information on local resources, and of course, live music. Classical guitarist Frank Wallace starts the music at 5:30, followed at 6:15 by Roots Cellar performing electric Americana. At 7:15 enjoy the jazz fusion of the Ben Jennings Quartet.

MEETING HOUSE STAGE OPEN MIC AND SING ALONG  Rindge Historical Society

July 7 1:00 – 4:00

 

It’s an annual tradition – lemonade and strawberry shortcake on the lawn while listening to local musicians perform. This Open Mic goes all year long, with proceeds to support the Historical Society.  There is no featured performer in July, just lots of local artists playing a nice variety of originals and covers.
